82 Series Filters (Cooling Filters)

 

These are light balancing filters used to increase the color temperature slightly for a cooler (more blue) tone.

These filters help remove the unwanted reddish tones. They can be used together, but do not mix 81 and 82 series filters since they cancel each other out.
 

82A Filters

These filters prevent the reddish tones in early morning or late evening light for natural skin tones.  Also compensates Type A film for use with 3200ºK lighting.

82B Filters

Eliminates more bluishness in the light.  Most effective for portraiture in shadow or distant scenery on a sunny day.  Also suitable for shooting with electronic flash.

For example, select the 82B when using tungsten Type B color film (3200°K) with ordinary household 100W electric bulbs (2900°K).

Subdues excessive reddishness in the light of morning and evening.  This cool tone filter produces the picture in natural color tone by raising color temperature to a suitable range.
